INJUSTICE THWARTED BY U.S.EXPERT

by Alan R. Yurko

A controversial Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) case in New Mexico, USA was thrown out of court in early November due to findings of U.S. expert Harold E. Buttram, MD, FAAEM. Buttram is one of a growing number of experts worldwide who believe that a rash of misdiagnoses are occurring in alleged SBS cases, and that many situations such as infantile scurvy, mitochondrial disorders, atypical hydrocephalitic conditions, and adverse vaccine reactions can mimic the findings in the so-called SBS.

Buttram’s success in the New Mexico case was a powerful win in that his findings led to the complete dismissal of the case. His findings were then backed up by other experts called in to review. Involved in numerous cases worldwide, Dr. Buttram pleads with police and prosecutors to refrain from rushing to judgement in these cases. He points out that in the United Kingdom an organisation called The Five Percenters have collected a data set of over 100 cases of SBS which have been either overturned or shown to be misdiagnosis.
