Please note that, if the contents of Texas HB 1702 is
inserted into another bill (number unknown) that is up for debate before the
House Public Health Committee TODAY, as is likely, it could get passed
through! So please, Texans, ask your
state Representative to contact the Texas House of Representatives Public
Health Committee chair, Rep. Patricia Gray (phone:
(512) 463-0588; Fax: (512) 478-1887), and express
disapproval of this measure (the opt-out immunization registry), whether it
appears via HB 1702 or tacked onto some other bill.

The loathsome bill was passed by the Texas Senate despite
stiff opposition. Please help counter
HB 1702 in the Texas House of Representativeswhere freedom of medical choice
already has many enemies. Every voice
counts. You may recall hearing that we
parents were treated shamefully during a hearing before the House Public Health
Committee, where our philosophical exemption to vaccination was stripped out of
the bill. Now they want to keep track
of who is vaccinated and who is not, and maintain a list of non-consenters.
Texans may find their representatives via the following:
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm
or http://www.vote-smart.org/index.phtml. It is probably better to call Austin, but
call the local office if you cant get through, and ask them to forward your
message.
